In 1856, Maryland Agricultural College was founded there, and a nearby Baltimore and Ohio Railroad stop became known as College Station. From 1903 to 1962, College Park had what is now the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and Rhodes College of Agricultural Sciences. On 23 September 1977 Scott Drive (66 - 004) was entered in the National Register of Historic Places. It is owned by the city of CollegePark and is part of the historic borough.
