Lithia Springs Comprehensive High School Reviews

The school is more worried about dress code than the students getting the curriculums needed to graduated. The administrative staff and teachers actions are very questionable.

this school is very old and outdated teachers try there best with limited funds the bathrooms are horriable it looks like a prison

I am very disappointed in the appearance of this school. It is just plain unacceptable. The school needs a complete overhaul and updated look. The bathrooms are ridiculous and no one seems to be doing anything about it. Administration is very disorganized as evidenced by the way there programs are run. Since enrolling my child there, I have since to hear anything about a PTA (Does it even exist at this school?) The athletic department is one big joke. My child is an excellent student therefore, she will do fine in what ever school she attends. It is just embarrassing to even tell people what school she goes to because of the condition. It has been rumored that Douglas County is supposed to have one of the better school districts, so far I have not been convinced. My plans are for my child not to go there next year.

I think that this school could use a lot of updating. The teaches do not respond to your e-mails that you send on the schhol web-site. They don't even follow up when ask them to call or e-mail about your childs progress. I think that the communication among parents and teaches should be better. They don't have PTA meetings to let you know what's going on at the school or with your child. I think more participation with the staff and the community is a vital point. I think that's why the school have problems with funding the students trips and transporation to certain events. I think we really need to look at this.

This school is very good in its academic programs and they have excellent teachers who will help the students. I am very involved in the school activities. The extracurricular activities are very excellent and they should keep up the good work.

I think there should be more structured homework in high school. My son had more homework in elementary and middle school than he has been given in high school. There should be more reading with questions to answer at the end of the assignments. Instead the classes are 90 minutes long which is too long to expect a child to stay focused. And math and english should be all year long not just half. By the time math is taken again they have forgotten all that they have learned before. My son struggles but there is nothing I can do to help because he says that they do the homework in class. So I never see what it is he is working on or what the problem is. And then the progress report comes and says he is failing. A bigger homework load will not hurt, only help.

I graduated in 2005. I have to admit the adminstration was horrible. But the teachers, well many of the teachers are passionate about their job, and really took an interest into the lives of their students. It does need discipline, a lot of it, especially with the growing population in the area, a little updating and some pest control. But i have good memories. Its an okay school.

My daughter is a junior and I do not think the curriculum is broad enough to accommodate all the students. There are limitations to their extracurricular activities. And my opinion of the staff is that they do not care and let me say it is not all of them. The principal and his asst need to be retrained on their responsibilities as the leaders of the school.

I was a class of 04 student at LSHS and hated every minute of it. It was, by far, the worst school I've ever attended. There is a major discipline problem. The administrators do not know how to handle unruly students. There weren't nearly enough clubs or after school programs. Most of the teachers didn't care about the students' education. The school hasn't been renovated one bit since it was built in the early 70s. My advice, don't put your child through it. Choose another school.

I graduated in 2005. Lithia Springs is in all respects a good school, taking into account the growing population size and the lag in BOE response/help. The teachers do as best they can with so many state and federal tests to prepare their students for.

This school does not have any structure. The principal and assistant principal have zero leadership skills and do not know how to speak to people in a respectful helpful way. Also, the counselors do not call you back in a timely manner and the administrative department does not send home notifications on upcoming events or changes. My advice to anyone who is moving into the Douglas County area look at the other 3 schools before having a child endure these situations.

As a parent, I am pleased with my son's first year at LSHS. However, I think there may be too much idle time spent in the classroom. I know that kids learn at different levels and paces, but give the 'quick learners' some extra worksheets or something to keep them busy and keep them learning! The band program is fantastic and the parent involvement within that area is good. I do wish they had more activities to get others active and involved to stay out of trouble. Something possibly to help the community and the school at the same time.

I am a student at Lithia and I hate it there. Let me say now that there is not extraccuricular activities for every personality, otherwise I would be there after school. Another thing is the teachers don't seem to care. A lot of them don't teach half of what they should. The staff doesn't care and if I could give the school a zero star I would, but I can't.

I am from the class of 02 and now I am a sgt in the marine corps. LSHS is a great school and for everyone complaining about it step up and say something. when I was there you had to speak for your voice to be heard and they will listen.

Thank God I no longer have a child at LSHS. Be very selective if you're considering this school or moving into the Lithia Springs Area. There are several wonderful Administrators and LSHS; but the Deeds of the Good are tarnished by the selfishness of others. Sports - Cheerleading 'Waller' highly recommended.

My son has been attending Lithia Springs for 3 years now. The counselors are great, they have assisted me with his academics and the athletic dept. is the fairest of other schools in the county. I must say, it is boring, the students are getting restless and wanting more student related programs.

I go to lshs and Im going to say its so boring.Nothing new goes on. Other schools have dances and stufflike that and we dont. The administrators are the lamest there are. We need to do more students things.

I think LSHS is a great school my daughter has attended there 3 years. I really love the clubs and athletic departments. Dr. Waller is an outstanding cheerleading coach. She want the girls to achieve more in academics than cheerleading this is a rare teacher whom some of the children look at as thier mother. With all schools there are some problems but i believe god has special people teaching there for our children.

Lithia has so much drama. I hate it. As a student there is nothing to look forward in not even any of the schools events. They barely have any dances or even any pep rallys. Its lame and boring.

As a teacher at Lithia for 4 years now, I can tell you, Lithia gets better every year I am here. When I first started, we had quite a few discipline problems but that has decreased greatly over the years, due to a massive overhaul in the administrative team. Academics are improving, the student body is more respectful than ever, and the sports teams are even doing better! If I had the choice of transfering anywhere else in the county (or even the Atlana area) I wouldn't. Go Lions!

As a graduate of this school I can tell you first hand...The staff is wonderful, everyone of the staff members get to know the students and they understand the situations they are in! Something very intresting about Lithia is that is a one big family, I have never seen people get a long as well as the faculty and students do there! The academics are great and the sports are improving! Lithia's staff is very involves in their athletes and the DO NOT tolerate bad behavior or slacking in grades...I believe this is a very important factor to keep the students out of trouble and keep their heads in the classroom!! I would recommend this school....it is a great experience! From someone who really knows!

It's a nice school, with a variety of cultures!

lithia is a great school but there is deffinatly more african americans than whites.

Lithia Springs is a great school! I transferred my child from another high school in Cobb County; I thought the move would be difficult for her, but it was actually easy. She enjoys her new friends and her new classes. Also, thanks to Mrs. Strydom for leading her in the right direction and preparing her for the future. To others, it might seem like Mrs. Strydom is ruining their lives, but soon they will know that it pays off in the long run. Again, thank you sooo much!

The facts about lithia is a lie. The school is poor in every thing especially academics.

I am not a parent but an alumnist of Lithia Springs High School. I went there all four years and loved it. I was very actively involved in the there Theater Company and loved the teacher Mrs. Edwards. She is a teacher that truly loves theater and her students. I highly reccomend Lithia Springs High School to anyone. The staff and the principal are amazing.

I think that Lithia Springs High School provides a very diverse and friendly atmosphere overall. It is a wonderful school to learn and grow as an individual person. The many sports that are available are wonderful, and the many clubs, groups and organizations are sensational as well. It is really one of the best schools in Georgia!

I loved my years at Lithia Springs. I went all four years and really enjoyed the experience. Not only did Lithia have many fine clubs to boast on, but the marching band was the best in the county out of the four high schools, bringing home several first place trophies. I think that Lithia Springs is a great school.

This school is a wonderful school. It may not be as beautiful as some of the other schools but the quality of the staff is wonderful. There are many extracurrucular activities. There is one for every personality. You will not be making a bad choice going with this school. Being a student there is so much fun. There are all kinds of school activities that happen on special weeks that your kids can get involved in.

this is my son's first year at lshs. as a parent, coming from another state, i'm very impressed with the personal attention the faculty give to the students. my son has loved music all his life, playing drums in different settings. the band program at lshs has given my son an opportunity to not only play, but with the personal attention from the students is allowing him to learn to read music. i have not seen this at other high schools.

I am not a parent but a former student of Lithia. This school is not perfect, but find one that is!! Lithia has a great wrestling team, football team just to mention a few. They also have clubs and a newspaper. The teachers are nice and although the classes are rather large they try to make time for individual help. My favorite thing at Lithia High was a meeting on Friday mornings called First Priority. This meeting was and is still held before school and is for Christian students who want to worship before school. I think it was an awesome opportunity. The attendence (which is optional) is still at about 140 students on a good day 60 on a bad one. Overall this school is good, friendly, and very diverse.
