Towers High School Reviews

Fall 2006 is my son's first year at Towers High School. As such, my comments might not be comprehensive. However, I believe the overall quality of Towers' academic programs is evident in the following points (notwithstanding Assessment scores): * Grammar usage in comments by former/current students (see comments in the 'Parent Reviews' section). * Environment during class-schedule changes (for example, when students change from 1st-period classes to 2nd-period classes). Regarding the second bullet, it's appalling to witness students use profane language towards Security Guards, faculty, and staff. Also during class-schedule changes, faculty and staff inform male students to tuck their shirts in their pants, but only about 15% of those students adhere. The principal appears to be genuine, but I perceive an undertone of frustration of being in a position where he can't affect positive change. My perception is based on the principal's comments about apparent parent apathy.

I am deeply concerned about the negative impact that renovation efforts that are currently underway may have at Towers High School. My son and daughter are to report to school on August 14th ready to work. However, I am not certain that the school is ready for my children (or any others for that matter). I am concerned about the safety of the students that will be walking the halls during construction. How will the sounds of drills and jack hammers impact instruction? I am concerned about the air quality (dust & debris) while my children are in school. I have no doubt that the majority of faculty and staff are more than qualified to provide my children with the education they need to become productive citizens.

I am currently attending Towers High and I think its a good school but there are some teachers that need not to teach. Towers needs some attention and security. I really think Towers have a good displinary system. I really love the Principal and its Staff.

I am going to be truthful. Towers High School is a bad school. As a rising junior I hate this school. In order for Towers High School to make it to the top they are going to need major changes. They keep talking about getting renovations and all this other stuff they have not done that yet. When it rains the have trash cans to catch the water. They have some classes and the ISS in these raggedy broke down trailors. They need to renovate Towers ASAP

Right now I am a junior at Towers. I have attended Towers since the 9th grade. And since then it has been a good school. With great leadership from the principal. Although the administration is a little strict. But i guess thats how you have to be sometimes. This school to me is one of the high ranking schools in dekalb. Junior class of `06 run this!

I an a senior at towers right now, really towers has been a good school for me since the 8th grade. I was so ready to transfer schools but its the fun in the learning that keeps me comming back everyday. The schools administration is to me the best in the county. They do have their flaws, meaning they can be a little bit too strict. But over all towers is an exellent school.

I am presently a student at the school. I think Towers has a great disciplining system but needs to be renovated an an average I think the school is good including the teachers (except for a few)and we have a principal who really cares about our well being and discipline to help to change the world with the few future leaders he has. If you are someone who goes to a school for their extra curricular activities then Towers is not exactly the best but they do have some good teams but not as many sports as you may desire. Overall Towers may not be beautiful on the outside or the inside but it is the students and the education received that builds the school and being judged by that Towers is one of the top schools in Dekalb County. :D

Towers High is a great school that recieves little recognition. There needs to be a change. There is little parent invovlment at PTSA when I attended and that is an area that they could improve on.

I would like to see improvement on the outside of the building as well inside. The entire building needs a complete make over. The athletic field needs some work with keeping up the grounds (trash is always visible) and athletic equipment on the field is broke or very old.

Towers may seem to be just an all around average school, and it may not be able to compare with the larger, newer and better known schools that have sprouted up in this district in more recent years. But Towers has history that surpasses some of the newer schools and its teachers remain devoted to their students even under tough trials and motivates the ones who want to succeed, to meet the challenges that life offers. I am a proud parent of an all A-student {Senior}, who has made Who's who's and many other awards. We are proud to be Tower's Titans.
