Although Im sad to see the school close this year, Im hoping for possitive merger in 2008. The school has great potential, but some of the teachers lack the drive that it takes to make sure all chidren get a quality education” Posted By: parent Quality Score: 2 2006-04-09 “The school overall is a great school the weakness comes in when the parents aren't as involved as they should be and leave all of the teaching and learning to the teachers when it all starts from the home and end at the school. The PTA meetings are not as supportive as they should be from the parents. They also need so much more funding and support for extracurricular programs for the kids to participate in. But my experience with my kids attending this school has been a pleasure. But I would like to see more things happen for the kids in the summer, after school etc...not just expensive plays to raise money that your whole family can't attend because of the price.” Posted By: parent Quality Score: 3 2006-02-28 “I have 2 children that attends Leslie J Steele 3rd and 5th grade. The quality of the programs are not very good there are a couple of teachers that shows their concern but funds are very limited and so is the support of the parents,the availbilty of extracurricular activites is little to none I hope when the new school is built in 2007 there will be more to offer these kids as for the test scores I advise all parents to touch bases with your kids teacher know where they are before there left behind not afterward. My kids have had some great teachers that has helped me help them. Thanks Ms.Peters, Mrs Corker,Dr. Jackson and the assistant principal Dr.Myles I hope they continue to think about the kids education the way they do!”
